LEARNING is a very important part of your child’s mental and emotional development process. Young children mostly learn from their parents as they are still protected from the outside world until they start going to school and mixing around with their peers.

You would already know by now that your young child spends most of their time at home with you. And that is why you have huge role to play in their learning process.

Here, I’ve outline 5 easy ways you can use to help your child to learn better.

The Ideal Place
Give your child an ideal place to study at home. It should conducive has good lighting and includes a proper table with a comfortable seat. It budget permits, you can buy them a computer and setup a book shelves there as well.

Setup A Routine
You can help you child setup a daily routine. Sit down together and discuss with their daily activies, both studies and play. The reason you need to discuss this with your child is to make them fully aware of this routine. You can also avoid any disagreements later on with this routine because both of you have agreed on this earlier. After that, your main task is to make sure they stick to this routine everyday to avoid any interruptions from the phone, TV or computers.

Spend Time With Them
You should try to spend time with your child at home. One good and easy way to start it to do things together, for example : household tasks and chores. Don’t expect your child to spend more time with you when they grow up because they will certainly want to spend more time with their peers and less time with you.

Make it a poin to communicate daily with your child no matter how old they are.

Be Involved In Extra Curricular Activities
Encourage your child to be actively involved in extra curricular activites in school. However, don’t over encourage them on this until all their after school hours are spent on this. Be moderate. If you’re lucky, you might also discover your child’s hidden talents through these. It can be talent in sports, talent in musics, in leadership and such.

Set Goals
You can help your child set their goals. Discuss with them what they want to do when they grow up, or what they want to be like. Sometimes, your child might come up with unrealistic ideas and goals, or those that are not of your preference. Don’t react negatively on that because things will change as they grow up. As they mature, they will see things differently.

The point here is to encourage your child to express themselves and instill the habit of setting goals from young!

good points but i need to know more on how to motivate writing in my child . She is good orally but hates writing and as a result gets poor grades in school. she id 7 and half yrs old.

This writeup is very instructive, but the challenge one has is that of the schedule of the parents. We get so busy trying to make ends meet that we hardly have enough time for the kids.

I am sure after reading this, i must have to work towrds this.
thank you
